Internet Woes

Thanks to the way our ISP provides service my internet access is almost non-existent until the 26th of September. A certain Daughter (who shall remain nameless) used up out entire quota of access a week early.
It is an odd system, but under our current service contract we get 25 gigabytes of use per month after which we are "shaped" back to a 64K speed.
The internet slows to a crawl and it basically useless for anything other than email. So I am sorry to say I won't be making a proper post for the next few days.
We are looking at a service upgrade, but that is likely to take a month or so due to the incredible efficiency (sarcasm intended) of the telecommunications industry in Oz.

Oh, a fellow sufferer! I've been having my own Internet problems.

See you when you are back up to speed.

Now you get to experience life without the internet. What was that like again?

Oh dear, I feel your pain. The internet should be like a tap of clear running water.

There's been talk of Internet quota service in the US but, to my knowledge, it doesn't exist yet. Can you really use up the Internet? Is there really a reason for quota? I mean, my kids have quota, but that's different...

Happy Bday Blogfest this Friday!

Yes, we have the same system here in the UK. Download a couple of films and your month's allocation is gone! Google Earth can have the same effect.
See you back here in a week!!

I've never heard of quotas either! Mine would be used up within a week. I'm always streaming videos like TV and movies. Yikes! See you when you get speed again!

Ugh! I hate it when the server is slow. I haven't heard of quotas, though. I hopped over from Kittie Howard's blog to say hello and congratulate you on your award. :-)

Al, I've got a little something for you over at my place. Enjoy!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that Al. I hope you get more quota soon.

What a bummer! But at least it will give you a chance to catch up on your email and life in general. lol When you do get your speedy connection back, there is a surprise waiting for you, over at my blog. Cheers!

Hi Christine,
We’ll have to start an internet sufferer’s group :-)
I’ll be back!

Hi Karen,
It reminds me of the bad old days when I first started using a 300 baud modem to access bulletin boards. Slow and painful!

Jayne,
We normally have good access, so it is especially painful.

Hi Michele,
The quotas here are imposed by the individual ISP companies. They charge more for accounts depending on how much you use. My company encourages you to get a better (and more expensive) contract by slowing you down once they have reached a pre-agreed usage level.
My daughter needs a quota, then I wouldn’t have this problem. :-)
Hi Kathleen,
If your system is like ours the more you pay the more use you get. We aren’t too financial at the moment so we have a middle of the road plan.
Hi Jennifer,
I won’t be entirely gone, just not quite as involved as usual.

Hi Heather,
Ours usually lasts about 29 days. But the dreadful daughter has discovered anime and manga.

Hi Shannon,
I hat it too. It is awful!
Thank you! I’ll have to hop over and check it out!

Hi Kittie,
Thank you! I’ll be right over. I tried looking at your post this morning but gave up because of my dodgy internet!

Hi Carolyn
It is painful! Should be back to normal on the weekend.

Hi Marguerite,
I am such a boring fellow I don’t have a life outside the internet (just kidding).
Thank you I’ll hop over and have a look.

I've heard a few of my Australian buddies saying this before. I've never heard of it anywhere else!
