Triplet Falls: or Two Piccies of the Day

Recently I have posted piccies of the Beauchamp Falls and the Hopetoun Falls.

I said that they were almost literally around the corner from each other (at least in Oz terms all within about 15 kilometres). I noted that there was a third set of falls in the immediate area and promised to complete the triplet of falls in the near future.

Well here is the third of the triplet and this waterfall is actually called the Triplet falls.

As you can see from this piccie the channel breaks into three. To catch all three branches in one piccie is actually really hard.
The waterfall is in quite dense rainforest and is too wide for a conventional camera lens except at an obtuse angle like this.

This second piccie of the day is of the right-hand and widest of the three branches

Piccie of the Day

A quick piccie of the day because I am busy tonight.

I'll answer the WIIW tomorrow.

Light on the Subject

A quick post tonight.
I have had a rather frustrating weekend mostly spent shopping for clothes for work.
Have I ever said how much I hate shopping?
I’d rather be out in the bush trying to photograph something like this.
The Hopetoun falls, Otway Ranges Western Victoria.

Or stalking one of these

A New Holland Honey Eater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae)

Now I should throw some light on my What is it Wednesday puzzle from last week.
Everyone guessed something like street lights, or reflections of the same.
Here is the full image.

Can you see now?
And a shot taken from the same place using a long exposure.

I had the cameras set on a tripod to capture these shots.
The lights are on a wharf front crane unloading a container ship at night.
I posted this piccie nearly a year ago when I was experimenting with my then “new” camera.
I have my eye fixed on a new “new” camera but at close to $4,000 I think it will stay in the shop. For now!

A long time coming.

Both aspects of my post tonight took a while to arrive.

First as I promised a waterfall. In fact it is the same waterfall as I posted last time.

This is the Hopetoun Falls in the Otway ranges west of Melbourne. No Spelling error by the way, it is Hopetoun Falls with a U.

I took these shots about a month ago and haven’t got round to posting them ‘til now.

The river downstreamAnd a closer shot of the falls. Now the slowest delivery from Amazon I have ever experienced!

A while ago I ordered a copy of a blogosphere friend’s book.

To be exact I ordered a copy of Wendy Robertson’s The Romancer.Wendy is a British author who has literarily dozens of books to her name. The Romancer is about her life as a writer.

So just after Christmas last year I put in an order with Amazon. And waited…
And waited…
No book arrived.

I checked my credit card statement, no debit.

Ah, well I thought I’ll organize it another time.

Then just the other day Deb asked “Did you buy anything on Amazon?”
“Not that I remember.”
There was an item on the statement from Amazon. I kind of remembered ordering something for my Mum so I forgot it.

Wendy’s book turned up today!

And here is the delivery slip showing my order made 29 December 2010!
Now you have to excuse me I have some reading to do!
