An early Start Again!

Well I had hoped to do a proper post tonight.
Unfortunately about ten minutes ago one of my staff phoned in saying he is down with gastric and won't be fit for the morning (No I don't think he's chucking a sickie).
I don't have anyone else who I can put in at such short notice.
So instead of lazing about tomorrow I'll be up before dawn and off to work.

Hence I'm off to bed so no post.
But a teaser, a piccie I took today.

Can anyone guess what this little establishment might have been used for?

Is it a look out tower? The sky in that photo is gorgeous.

Is it weather-related? What beautiful black stone! And I'm sorry you had to work today ... it looks wonderful out there right now!

Looks like a military structure of some kind.

You have an award on my blog!

Hi DJ,
Great guess, but no it isn't a lookout.
The sky was gorgeous, it was a beautiful day.

Hi Kristen,
Weather related is kind of getting warm. It is related to things maritime.

Hi Michele,
It does look military, but isn't. Although, it was probably manned by ex-Royal Navy personnel for much of it's useful life.

Thanks for the award!

Awesome structure. My first guess was look-out tower. Was it a lighthouse?

It is built so securely, I would not be surprised to hear it was a prison or a fort.

Hi Deb,
Your guess is partially correct. For a short time this tower had a light, but it was only a secondary function.

Hi Rayna,
It was neither a prison or a fort, although the architect clearly had castle towers in mind.
