What do you think this one is?
With my Aussie eye I think this is an easier one than last week. But I guess we'll see ;-)Well our Government has decided to cut numbers in the Victorian public service by 10% over the next two years.
Personally I'm not worried, they can't cut me very easily without cutting the program I run for them (and they just made it ongoing). Also, I am fairly employable so if they did let me go I'd find something else. But I have to say a lot of my colleagues are feeling very let down at getting that message at Christmas time.
Also contrary to my expectations before joining the public service last year things are pretty lean in terms of staffing levels. How the work will get done is a mystery to me.

I'm truly sorry to hear of such severe austerity measures! Public services the world over are being targetted so unfairly and so severely when they least deserve to be. Especially when the current crises is not of their doing. :-(

I think it's a corrugated tin roof! sorry to hear that people are being cut in Oz - it's the same in the UK. My daughter, who runs a preventive medicine programme in the community, is just waiting for her redundancy letter to arrive - apparently preventing people becoming ill is one of the non essential things you can cut. Thought Oz was doing better, but obviously this is worldwide.
