Yeah, I'll go with bird.
I thought it was bird feathers at first too, but now I am wondering if it is a flower. Oh Al...now I am all bothered!
I have to go with feathers or flower petals, because I can't decide which.

Interesting picture. First thing I saw when I looked at it was a bit of hair on the side, and a generous pair of lips. (Don't ask me what the other mounds are.) But the bit on the side does look like either hair or tall wispy grass. And what ... rocks, maybe? (You didn't cheat and rotate the image on us, now, didja?)
First thought was bird, but then I thought no - a flower, perhaps some kind of banksia? something with a frondy cone?
